Materials Coordinator
Location: Ossett, West Yorkshire
Hartwell Manufacturing is a family-run engineering business with nearly 50 years of experience delivering high-quality acoustic enclosures and heavy steel fabrication projects. From our Ossett headquarters, we support clients in the power, data centre and industrial sectors with engineered solutions built on precision, collaboration and reliability. The culture is hands-on, team-focused and proud of the work we produce.
As Hartwell continues to grow, we are looking to strengthen our operations team with the appointment of a Materials Coordinator.
This is a practical, shopfloor-based role focused on making sure materials are ready and available for upcoming jobs so that our skilled fabricators can work as efficiently as possible.
You will work closely with Production, Stores and Supply Chain, helping to organise and prepare the materials required for live and upcoming fabrication work.
The successful candidate will initially spend time at our Sheffield site learning the existing process before moving into the Ossett role and helping establish the same approach there.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Collating and preparing materials for upcoming production and fabrication jobs
- Ensuring the correct materials are available in the right place at the right time
- Working closely with fabricators, Production and Stores to understand upcoming requirements
- Checking material availability and highlighting shortages or issues before they affect production
- Helping organise material flow around the shopfloor to reduce delays and unnecessary downtime
- Maintaining clear and accurate records of materials allocated to jobs
- Supporting the wider team with day-to-day materials coordination and stock-related activity
About You
We are looking for someone practical, organised and comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, stores, materials handling or a similar shopfloor environment
- A practical understanding of how materials support production activity
- Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail
- The ability to manage several upcoming job requirements at the same time
- Confidence communicating with fabricators, production teams and stores personnel
- A proactive approach and the ability to identify potential material issues early
- Basic IT skills for maintaining records and updating internal systems
Previous heavy fabrication experience would be useful, but it is not essential.
More important is having a good understanding of a busy production environment and the ability to make sure materials are prepared properly so skilled operatives can focus on the work they do best.
Why Hartwell?
Hartwell continues to grow rapidly, with increasing demand across the power, data centre and industrial sectors.
This role offers the opportunity to become an important part of the production process, helping improve efficiency and ensuring fabrication teams have what they need to keep work moving.
If you have experience in materials, stores or manufacturing support and enjoy working in a practical, hands-on environment, we would be interested to hear from you.
