About the team:
Our Technology Business Management (TBM) team sits at the heart of OSB Group’s technology strategy and execution. TBM acts as a chief of staff function for the Chief Information Officer and Technology Senior Leadership Team who manage the Technology division for OSB; comprising approx. 700 colleagues located in UK and India, and an annual budget of approx. £80M on technology-enabled change, technology operations, engineering, security and data capabilities. The TBM team bring together expertise in technology enabled business investment lifecycle, portfolio management, technology risk and controls, third-party management, technology finance, technology-wide communications, organisational design effectiveness, coordination of cross-functional activities, and production of management information, dashboards and formal ExCo/Board reports to enable OSB to make smart, data‑driven decisions about how we run, invest in and protect our technology landscape.
The team partners closely with the Lending, Savings, Domains and Enabling Functions Value Streams, and with Engineering, Cyber Security, Data, and Technology Operations supporting functions to operate and deliver a transparent, inter-connected and value‑focused technology environment. The team also collaborates with Group functions such as HR, Finance, Risk, Legal, Operations on cross-functional activities and to facilitate Technology inputs to group-wide objectives and deadlines.
What you will be doing?:
Within TBM, Strategy and Planning is a small, specialist squad of multi-skilled practitioners who work on a wide variety of planned and ad hoc activities across all of Technology and with the business, as well as providing consultancy, information and aggregates data from multiple sources for other teams to use.
The Technology Strategy & Planning Manager plays a key role in enabling the Technology Senior Leadership Team to shape, develop, communicate and deliver the organisation's technology vision, strategy, target operating model changes, and mid-to-long term planning horizons and roadmaps. The role combines strategic planning, business insight, business analysis and executive communications to support informed decision-making and drive alignment across Technology and the wider business.
Working collaboratively with business and technology stakeholders, the role brings together business and technical knowledge and data insights for investment business cases and tracking outcome realisation; balancing value, risk, and cost to surface opportunities, alternative options, critical dependencies, high-level requirements and delivery capabilities needed to provide a holistic view of delivery of strategic priorities and outcomes. Acting as a trusted partner to the Chief Information Officer and Technology Senior Leadership Team, the role supports the leadership team and business stakeholders with effective communication of technology strategy options, execution progress, technology risk mitigation and achieved vs planned value realisation
The role also champions colleague engagement and supports embedding ways of working that improve organisational effectiveness, including facilitating divisional and cross-functional process / workflow improvements coaching on enterprise-wide and team on agile practices, strengthening technology-wide capabilities in change planning and prioritisation, surfacing transparency of thematic risks and opportunities, and supporting the effectiveness of technology management and governance disciplines required to support the CIO’s Senior Manager Function (SMF) accountabilities. Through strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration with Internal Communications, the Technology Strategy & Planning Manager ensures consistent, impactful communications and management information across a range of channels, including leadership forums, board reporting, technology town halls, collaboration platforms and colleague engagement networks.
Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the development, communication and delivery of the Technology strategy, vision and roadmap

Providing strategic analysis, insight and recommendations to support technology planning, mid and long term horizon roadmaps and decision-making

Leading scenario modelling, option assessments and strategic trade-off analysis

Developing business cases and ensuring proposed investments align with organisational priorities and strategic objectives

Acting as a trusted advisor to the Chief Information Officer and Technology Senior Leadership Team, providing meaningful business and technology insights

Monitoring portfolio performance, investment outcomes and value realisation, delivering clear, data-driven reporting and recommendations

Supporting the maturity of Technology's operating model by driving efficiencies and embedding agile and outcome-focused ways of working

Developing high-quality management information, dashboards, KPIs and OKRs to measure performance and progress against strategic objectives

Strengthening governance frameworks by promoting clarity, accountability, effective prioritisation and transparent decision-making

Producing and presenting compelling reports, presentations and executive summaries for Technology leadership, governance forums, steering committees, executive stakeholders and Board-level audiences

Supporting the development of engaging technology communications, including leadership updates, technology town halls and colleague engagement initiatives

Helping to shape and communicate technology change, including technology simplification, rationalisation and system decommissioning initiatives
What's in it for you?:
We offer a base salary depending on experience ranging from £62,000 - £72,000 and a competitive benefits package including:

- Strong demonstrable experience in an analysis, strategy or advisory role supporting large‑scale, complex organisational change

Experience within Financial Services or a similarly regulated environment is desirable

Experience in Agile frameworks and best practices, including embedding ways of working is essential

Demonstrable experience of influencing teams and senior leadership without direct authority, as well as the ability to translate complex information into clear messages for varied audiences

Advanced analytical, problem-solving, organisational and planning skills; ability to see the bigger picture while paying attention to detail

Strategic thinking, business acumen and understanding of technology domains and organisational structures

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, with experience using SharePoint for information management, reporting, or governance artefacts considered highly desirable
