Estimator – Interior Fit-Out

We are an established and growing SME specialising in interior fit-out and refurbishment projects across the North West and beyond.
As a growing business, we're looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team and play an important role in our continued development. The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Estimator with strong interior fit-out experience who can take a tender from initial drawings and specifications through to a fully priced and competitive submission.
You will be responsible for managing the estimating process from start to finish, working closely with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and the internal team to ensure tenders are accurate, commercially robust and submitted on time.
The role will include regular site visits to understand project requirements, assess existing conditions and support the tendering process.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret architectural drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Carry out accurate quantity take-offs and measurements
- Prepare detailed and competitive project estimates
- Issue and manage subcontractor and supplier enquiries
- Obtain, assess and compare quotations
- Build up rates and prepare detailed tender pricing
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings
- Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions and qualifications
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the tender process
- Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings as required
- Prepare and submit professional, accurate tender returns
- Review tender requirements and ensure all elements of the scope have been allowed for
- Assist with tender adjudications and handovers to the commercial/project delivery team
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
- Keep up to date with market rates, material costs and subcontractor pricing
- Support the wider business with commercial and estimating input where required
About You
We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, organised and confident taking ownership of a tender.
Ideally, you'll have 3–5+ years' experience in estimating within interior fit-out, refurbishment or a closely related construction environment.
You should be comfortable working independently rather than simply assisting a Senior Estimator.
We're particularly interested in someone who can demonstrate experience of taking a project from:
Drawings & Specifications → Measurement → Enquiries → Pricing → Value Engineering → Qualifications → Final Tender Submission
Skills & Experience
- 3–5+ years' estimating experience within interior fit-out/refurbishment
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Strong measurement and quantity take-off skills
- Experience obtaining and analysing subcontractor quotations
- Good understanding of construction costs and current market rates
- Commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
- Competent with relevant estimating and Microsoft Office software
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to attend site visits
