Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activity Coordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in our care home. The successful candidate will plan, organise, and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the needs of our residents, with a particular focus on senior care, dementia, and Alzheimer’s care. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults by promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care requirements.
- Facilitate group and individual activities including arts and crafts, music sessions, outings, and reminiscence therapy.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to tailor future programmes effectively.
- Encourage socialisation among residents to foster a positive community environment.
- Assist in organising special events such as birthdays, holidays, and themed celebrations.
- Monitor residents’ responses to activities and adapt plans accordingly to maximise engagement and enjoyment.
- Promote communication skills among residents through meaningful interactions during activities.
Requirements
- Experience working in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in senior care, dementia care or Alzheimer’s care will be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan engaging programmes tailored to diverse needs.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the wellbeing of older adults.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices within care homes or similar environments is preferred.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional resident care.
