Hours: Full-time
Location: Evolve Community Hub, Strelley, Nottingham
Contract: Fixed-term, 3 years
Project: Community Pathways
We're not looking for a typical Work Coach...
We're looking for someone who gets people.
Someone who can build a relationship over a coffee, have a conversation about someone's hopes and ambitions, and then help them take those first steps towards something better.
At Evolve, we're more than an employment service. We're a community organisation, creating welcoming spaces where people can build confidence, develop skills, improve their wellbeing and connect with opportunities.
Our Community Pathways project is all about meeting people where they are, understanding what's getting in their way and supporting them to move forward.
And that's where you come in.
About the role
As a Community Work Coach, you'll work with people aged 18–65, supporting them to overcome barriers and move towards employment, education or training.
You'll manage your own caseload and provide personalised, practical support throughout each person's journey. No two people will need the same thing, so you'll need to be someone who can listen, adapt and find the right approach for the individual in front of you.
You'll also be a visible part of our community hub, helping people feel comfortable accessing support and building relationships with local organisations, referral partners and employers.
What you'll be doing
- Manage your own caseload and provide personalised employment and skills support.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with participants and understand what matters to them.
- Complete assessments and develop realistic, achievable action plans.
- Provide one-to-one coaching, Information, Advice and Guidance and practical support.
- Help participants identify and overcome barriers to employment.
- Support people to develop confidence, skills and job-search techniques.
- Connect participants with relevant training, education, employers and specialist support.
- Maintain regular contact and keep accurate records of each person's journey.
- Make sure case notes, action plans and evidence are completed to the required project standards.
- Build relationships with local referral partners and community organisations.
- Get involved in community events, outreach and activities at the Evolve hub.
- Contribute to achieving project outcomes whilst ensuring participants receive a high-quality, person-centred service.
We're looking for someone who...
We're interested in people who have the right skills, attitude and experience to make a difference.
You might have experience in employment support, advice and guidance, community work, youth work, housing, health and wellbeing, education, volunteering, mentoring or another role where you've supported people to overcome challenges and make positive changes.
We're particularly interested in someone who:
- Enjoys working with people and is naturally good at building relationships.
- Has experience working with people from different backgrounds and life experiences.
- Can communicate confidently with people and adapt their approach to different individuals.
- Is compassionate, patient and non-judgemental.
- Is organised and able to manage their own caseload.
- Can keep accurate records and understands the importance of good case management.
- Is proactive, flexible and happy to get involved in community activities and events.
- Believes that people can change their circumstances when they have the right support and opportunities.
What matters to us
At Evolve, we care about how you work with people, not just what's written on your CV.
We want someone who will be a familiar and friendly face in our community hub. Someone who can sit alongside a participant, listen without judgement and help them work out what their next step could be.
You don't have to have all the answers. You do need to be willing to learn, ask questions and genuinely care about helping people move forward.
Why Evolve?
You'll be joining a friendly, passionate team working in a community environment where every day is different.
You'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, develop your skills and make a genuine difference to people in the local community.
And who knows? This could be the start of your journey with Evolve.
If you're passionate about people, believe in the power of communities and think you could make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
