JOB PURPOSE
The role of the Smart Repair Technician is to:
- Accurately and skilfully manage all aspects of estimating and “smart repairing” any body damage on used motor vehicles, prior to their display for sale. Detect and diagnose any additional faults for further repairs.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with retailer, manufacturer and industry guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Carry out all repairs according to best practice procedures. Complete assigned jobs within the estimated repair times. Meet acceptable safety and quality standards.
- Liaise with the General Sales Manager and Stock Presentation Specialist to compile an estimate, for the most cost effective and time efficient repair for used cars prior to display for sale.
- To produce daily repair sales of circa £500.00 per day and advise the Bodyshop management team of the vehicle repairs completed and their repair value.
- Report accurately and correctly all components, materials, consumables and hours used on each vehicle repair, keeping wastage of all material and consumables to a minimum. Keep work area clean, tidy and free from hazards and ensure the oven is swept and cleaned before vacating.
- Observe, recognise and report on vehicle paintwork. Report on the job card any/all faults or defects detected while working on the vehicle. Report any additional damage found when preparing the vehicle.
- Use all paint mixing schemes and drying areas/equipment accurately for all paint repairs.
- Interpret and implement technical instruction data.
- Check the condition and ensure the correct maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials.
- Safeguard the customer vehicle and its contents while in the workshop.
- Seek clarification in the event a work order is unclear or seems incorrect.
- Undertake all other tasks and activities as requested by the Bodyshop Manager.
- Work to support other team members in achievement of their objectives when asked to do so or required by their manager.
Skills & Requirements
Essential
- City and Guilds qualification or NVQ equivalent
- Competency in numeracy and literacy.
- Good organisational and planning skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Smart appearance.
