Manor Farm Experiences is looking for a hardworking, practical and reliable farm hand to join our busy animal therapy and experience farm for an initial three-month period. There may be an opportunity for the position to continue for the right person.
This is a varied, physically demanding outdoor role, combining agricultural fencing and general farm maintenance with practical animal-care duties.
Main duties will include:
- Building and repairing livestock fencing
- Installing fence posts, stock wire and gates
- Repairing animal enclosures, shelters and farm equipment
- General farm, yard and grounds maintenance
- Moving feed, hay, fencing materials and equipment
- Feeding, watering and moving livestock
- Cleaning and maintaining animal enclosures
- Checking gates, fences and enclosures for safety and security
- Assisting with other practical jobs around the farm as required
The successful applicant will need to be:
- Physically capable of safely undertaking demanding outdoor work
- Practical and confident using hand and power tools
- Experienced in agricultural fencing, construction, carpentry, grounds maintenance or similar work
- Comfortable and confident working around a wide variety of animals
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
- Safety-conscious, with good awareness of animal welfare and site security
- Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Previous farm and livestock experience would be an advantage, but strong practical maintenance and fencing experience is particularly important.
A full driving licence and access to transport are essential because of our rural location.
Children and vulnerable young people attend the farm, so satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check will be required.
Pay is upto 18 per hour, depending on relevant experience and the ability to undertake fencing and maintenance work independently.
