Wycombe Preparatory School is seeking a caring, patient and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our warm and nurturing Early Years team from September 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide dedicated one-to-one support to a pupil at the beginning of their educational journey. Working closely with the class teacher and wider Early Years team, you will help the child access learning, develop confidence and participate fully in classroom life.
Role details
Contract: Two days per week, between Monday and Friday
Hours: 8:30am to 3:45pm
Salary: Dependent on experience
Start date: September 2026
About the role
As our EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored one-to-one support within the Early Years classroom, helping the pupil to achieve their individual learning and development goals.
You will support learning through play, encourage positive relationships and help create a safe, stimulating and happy environment in which every child can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one support to a pupil within the EYFS classroom.
- Helping the pupil access classroom learning and play-based activities.
- Supporting individual learning, development and support strategies.
- Promoting the pupil’s communication, social and emotional development.
- Encouraging confidence, independence and positive behaviour.
- Monitoring progress and sharing feedback with the class teacher.
- Supporting classroom organisation, resources and daily routines.
- Contributing to the wider life of the Early Years classroom.
- Supporting pupils’ safeguarding, wellbeing and positive engagement.
- Assisting with playground supervision and other duties where required.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- Experience supporting children within an Early Years setting, although this is desirable rather than essential.
- A genuine passion for helping young children learn and develop.
- Strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
- A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents.
- The confidence to be a positive role model.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s wellbeing.
