The Role:
This role sits within the University’s Strategic Planning team, supporting the delivery of strategic planning, performance monitoring and data-driven insight across the University. The postholder will provide high-quality data analysis and insight to inform strategic decision-making. This includes sourcing, preparing and analysing complex internal and external datasets, and translating findings into clear, actionable outputs aligned to University priorities. The role requires the ability to interpret a wide range of strategic and operational information, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
The Data Analyst where required will develop and maintain robust, user-focused management information solutions, including automated reports and interactive dashboards, ensuring data is accurate, timely and accessible to stakeholders at all levels. A strong focus on data quality, governance and continuous improvement is essential. Working collaboratively across professional services and academic areas, the postholder will support performance tracking against strategic objectives, contributing to planning cycles, regulatory returns and benchmarking activity. The role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to non-technical audiences. An understanding of the higher education environment (or a similarly complex organisation) would be advantageous, though not essential. Experience in delivering data analysis would also be beneficial.
We would prefer candidates to be able to work full-time, but this is negotiable with the right candidate. Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days each week, hybrid working is available for this role, with a minimum of two days per week in the office.
