The Role
We are seeking a seasoned hospitality professional to lead in the daily operation of the café in a relaxed manner, working alongside the café owner. This is a rare, hands-on role that requires the skills to deliver premium coffee, fast-paced crêpe cheffing, as well as charismatic front-of-house management, whilst managing and developing a small team.
About Us
We are a unique, independent, and completely off-grid café located along the beautiful Camel Trail between Padstow and Wadebridge. We serve high-quality artisan coffee, fresh sweet and savoury crêpes, and provide a welcoming friendly atmosphere to cyclists, walkers, sailors and others, all powered by sustainable energy whilst surrounded by Cornish nature. Because we are totally off-grid, resourcefulness, independence, and a calm under-pressure attitude are at the heart of how we operate.
Key Responsibilities
- Front of House & Management: Greeting guests, managing queues efficiently, ensuring food hygiene compliance and assisting in stock control.
- The Crêpe Chef: Preparing batters and ingredients, managing the hotplates, and executing a high-quality, fast-paced menu.
- The Barista: Dialling in the grinder, steaming perfect milk on our setup, and maintaining strict quality control for every cup served.
- Off-Grid Problem Solving: Confidently managing unique off-grid elements (such as solar/gas systems, water management, and waste reduction).
Required Experience & Skills
- Hospitality Veteran: Preferred minimum of 8 years of experience working in hospitality environments. Applicants with less than 8 years’ experience may be considered for the role if they can prove/demonstrate experience with crêpe and/or coffee service.
- Business Owner Mindset: Ideally, you have successfully run your own hospitality business (café, food truck, or restaurant) or managed a site with complete autonomy.
- Technical Coffee Skill: Proven experience as a barista; confident with espresso extraction and milk texturing.
- Culinary Efficiency: Experience with short-order cooking or high-volume food prep (crêpe experience will be a plus, but confidence with high-heat cooking at a fast pace is highly desirable).
- Love and respect of the outdoors: Comfortable working in a semi-outdoor, rural environment as well as the ability to reliably travel to a trail-side location half-way between Padstow and Wadebridge.
What We Offer
- A genuinely unique working environment in one of Cornwall’s most scenic locations
- Daytime-only hours (no late nights), aligned with Camel Trail users and visitors
- A say in how we develop the menu, daily operations, and culture of the café.
