The Shrubbery Rest Home is looking for a passionate individual who prides themselves in providing quality care. Position of 26 hours per week (4 days per week) Shift times are 7.30am - 2.30pm and 2.30pm - 9.30pm. Shifts are 7 hours long with a half an hour unpaid break.
Job Description – Care Assistant Reports to: Senior in charge of shift/ Care ManagerResponsible to: Company Directors
- To ensure that all residents’ needs are met in accordance with their individual care plans.
- To maintain, respect and promote people’s privacy, dignity, rights, choices and independence.
- To respect and uphold people’s right under The Equality Act 2010 and its associated protected characteristics.
- To develop good relationships with residents and their relatives/representatives.
- Ensure medication competency completed and able to administer medication when required in line with medication protocol.
- To build and develop strong links and relationships with other health professionals.
- To ensure that all documentation is completed and up to date to evidence care that has been given.
- To assist the manager in keeping people’s care plans and risk assessments up to date.
- To assist the manager in the induction and on-going training of new staff.
- To contribute to the handover/communication within the home.
- To accompany residents on outings including hospital appointments and emergency hospital treatment.
- To maintain confidentiality within your role and ensure this continues outside of the home and while off- duty.
- To comply with the homes health and safety policy at all times, reporting any concerns or issues without delay.
- To follow any instructions given by the Senior Carer/Manager.
- To communicate any concerns or complaints the Senior Carer/Manager.
- To ensure that they act in a professional manner at all times.
- To ensure that they co-operate with colleagues and supervisory staff, to ensure effective communication between all members of staff.
- To follow all the homes policies and procedures.
- To ensure that you follow the homes infection control policy.
- To ensure that you use the correct protective clothing and equipment at all times.
- To ensure that all clinical waste is disposed of correctly in line with policies and procedures.
- To follow manual handling policies, procedures and relevant moving and handling care plans/risk assessments.
- To use equipment provided, and to ensure that it is in good working order.
- To be aware of the homes fire procedures, and all the fire points and exits.
- To be aware of the homes health and safety policy and to report any problems.
- To follow the homes policy on personal hygiene and appearance at all times.
- To carry out domestic duties as required ensuring the home is kept free from malodor and the environment is kept clean and tidy.
- To prepare light snacks, serve meals and support people to eat and drink as required.
- To carry out laundry duties and ensure that service users clothes are kept in good condition.
- To co-operate with the staff rota to ensure adequate staffing at all times, and to be flexible due to the changing needs of the service users and home.
- To attend/complete all training as required by the management.
- To take part in and attend staff meetings as required by the management.
- To work within the Code of Practice for all Social Care Workers.
