Job Summary
SearchLight Counselling and Therapy (formerly Relate West Surrey) is a well-established Surrey charity providing counselling and therapeutic support to individuals, couples, young people and families.
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Counsellor to join our clinical team. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple services, providing counselling to couples, adult individuals and young people both face-to-face from our Woking centre and online.
This is an ideal opportunity for a practitioner who enjoys a varied caseload and is committed to delivering high-quality, professional counselling services within a supportive charitable organisation.
Duties
The successful candidate will:
- Provide counselling to couples, adult individuals and young people.
- Deliver sessions both face-to-face and online using Zoom.
- Undertake assessments and support clients to access the most appropriate service.
- Maintain accurate, confidential client records in line with data protection requirements.
- Work within professional ethical frameworks and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Participate in mandatory supervision, team meetings and ongoing professional development.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a coordinated and client-centred service.
The role is expected to involve 3-6 counselling hours per week, with availability required on evenings and/or Saturdays.
Qualifications
- A recognised counselling qualification to Level 5 or above for every service offered.
- Professional registration, accreditation or active membership with BACP, UKCP, NCPS or an equivalent professional body.
- Experience of providing counselling to couples.
- Experience of providing counselling to young people.
- Experience of conducting assessments, managing risk appropriately and writing appropriate professional notes.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and best practice.
- Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
- A commitment to anti-discriminatory and inclusive practice.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of counselling both online and face-to-face.
- Experience of working within a counselling charity or agency setting.
- Experience of working with a diverse range of client needs, including relationship difficulties, mental health concerns and family issues.
- Experience of using electronic client management systems.
