Machine Operator
We're a major food and drinks manufacturer based in Haydock. Did you know that for every £4 spent on Hot Milky Drinks in the UK, £1 is made by us? We own major brands like HORLICKS, Drink Me Chai, Shmoo, Juice Break and Milfresh, and we have long-standing partnerships with brands such as Mars and Galaxy.
As a company, our values are Respect and Integrity, Excellence in all that we do, Commitment to always do the right thing, and Creative and Adaptable. If those values sound like your own, we'd love to hear from you.
In return, we'll give you all the training, support and development you need to succeed, along with access to a range of unique benefits, including our holiday homes in Spain, Wales and the Lake District.
If you're looking for a role where you're stood on the same machine every day doing the same thing, this will feel very different. You'll work across different high-speed, highly automated production lines and manufacturing areas, helping to make some of the UK's favourite food and drink products. Every day brings different products, different setups and different challenges.
What the job feels like
You'll be trained properly, one-to-one, by experienced operators including Elaine, Andrew and Michaela. They know the machines, understand the processes and take pride in helping new colleagues learn the role the right way.
You'll:
- Work across a range of automated, high-speed production equipment
- Learn different production processes and machine setups
- Be supported by Engineers, Technical, Shift Management and the wider People Team
- Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where no two days are exactly the same
- Be part of a team that helps each other and works together to get the job done
The role can be busy and demanding, especially when production is at full speed, but you'll never be left to struggle on your own.
What people notice when they join
It's the way people treat each other. You're not seen as "just an operator". Everyone is based on one site, everyone works towards the same goals, and people genuinely support one another.
But don't just take our word for it. We recently received Great Place To Work accreditation, and here's what our people had to say:
"I enjoy the vibes and friendliness of the company, I have felt like I fit in from the start so appreciate a welcoming environment. This encourages a productive environment.""The respect people get irrespective of their culture and tribe."
"The most distinctive thing about this company is the way it combines high standards with genuine humanity. Many organisations claim to value people, but here it's visible in everyday behaviour: colleagues support one another, leaders are accessible, and decisions are made with integrity rather than convenience. That creates an atmosphere where people feel trusted, respected, and able to do their best work."
Over 30% of our team have been with us for 10 years or more.
The role
As a Machine Operator, you'll be a key part of our production team, helping to ensure our products are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Key responsibilities include:

- Carrying out quality checks and recording production information
- Identifying and reporting issues before they become bigger problems

- Working as part of a team to achieve production targets
What we're looking for
We're looking for people with a positive attitude, good communication skills and a willingness to learn. Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment would be beneficial, but it isn't essential. If you have the right attitude and a desire to learn, we'll provide the training and support needed to help you succeed.
You'll be someone who:
- Enjoys working as part of a team
- Takes pride in doing a good job
- Is reliable and motivated
