About the Role (IDEALLY COVENTRY/WARWICKSHIRE BASED)
AB Taxis Ltd is expanding for the 2026/27 academic year and we are looking for reliable, professional private hire drivers to join our team for Home-to-School and SEN transport contracts.
This is a rewarding role ideal for drivers who want regular, stable, term‑time work with fixed routes and guaranteed hours. This role involves safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring punctuality and a high standard of customer service. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s/private hire licence and have experience in commercial driving or delivery services.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate vehicles to transport students to and from school locations in accordance with scheduled timings
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers during transit
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly
- Assist with loading and unloading students, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Maintain a clean and organised vehicle interior and exterior
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to coordinate pick-up and drop-off arrangements
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies at all times
Skills
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving or as a delivery driver is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with students, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and recognise potential issues
- Capable of heavy lifting when required, such as loading equipment or assisting students with mobility needs
- Excellent organisational skills to manage schedules efficiently
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing a safe transport service for young passengers
Requirements
To register your interest, you must have:
- Wolverhampton/Coventry/Solihull Private Hire Driver Licence
- Wolverhampton/Coventry/Solihull‑plated vehicle (4–8 seats)
- Valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Good communication and reliability
- Ability to work term‑time (Monday–Friday)
- Professional attitude and commitment to safeguarding
