Spire Claremont Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an accomplished and motivated Director of Clinical Services to join the Hospital Senior Leadership Team.
This is a pivotal leadership role with responsibility for providing strategic direction, operational leadership and professional oversight across all clinical services within the hospital. Reporting directly to the Hospital Director, you will play a key role in shaping the future of the hospital, driving clinical excellence, operational performance, service innovation and sustainable growth, whilst ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety and governance.
As a member of the senior leadership team, you will work collaboratively with consultants, clinical leaders and corporate stakeholders to deliver the hospital's Annual Operating Plan, clinical strategy and business objectives. supporting the continued development and expansion of services.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As Director of Clinical Services, you will provide visible leadership, ensuring the delivery of outstanding patient outcomes, exceptional patient experience and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of the hospital's clinical strategy, ensuring alignment with wider corporate objectives and growth ambitions.
- Contribute to the overall business strategy, supporting service development, investment opportunities and innovation across clinical services.
- Work in partnership with the Hospital Director, consultant body and senior leadership team to deliver the Annual Operating Plan and long-term strategic objectives.
Operational Leadership
- Provide overall operational management and leadership across all clinical service areas.
- Ensure services are safe, effective, responsive and patient-centred whilst maintaining operational efficiency and financial sustainability.
- Deliver strong business performance, balancing high-quality healthcare provision with sound financial management.
- Lead and develop a high-performing clinical leadership team, fostering accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.
- Participate in the Senior Management On-Call rota and deputise for the Hospital Director as required.
Clinical Quality, Governance and Patient Safety
- Maintain and embed the highest standards of clinical practice within a robust governance and regulatory framework.
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards and all statutory, professional and regulatory requirements. Working with the Governance Manager and Heads of Department to ensure continuous regulatory compliance and service excellence
- Provide executive leadership for risk management, clinical governance, patient safety, experience and quality improvement initiatives.
- Act as the Hospital's Director of Infection Prevention and Control, ensuring effective infection prevention and control practices across all services.
- Promote, develop and share evidence-based clinical practice across the hospital.
People Leadership and Culture
- Create an inclusive, high-performing culture that promotes collaboration, accountability and clinical excellence.

Who We're Looking For
We are seeking an experienced and credible healthcare leader who is registered with the NMC, HCPC or an equivalent professional body and has a proven track record of operating at Director of Clinical Services level, or within a comparable senior leadership role in an acute healthcare setting. The successful candidate will have extensive experience leading multidisciplinary teams, delivering strong operational performance and driving clinical excellence through robust governance, patient safety, risk management and quality improvement frameworks. You will bring a strong understanding of CQC and regulatory requirements, alongside experience of developing and implementing clinical strategy and leading service transformation. You will be able to balance quality outcomes with operational and business performance. Exceptional communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills are essential, together with a commitment to continual professional and leadership development.
