Import Export Clerk
Location: Office-based (Between Ipswich & Leiston), with occasional site/port visits Hours: Full-time (Occasional flexibility required to meet shipment schedules)
Key Requirements
To hit the ground running, you will need:
- Proven Experience: A strong background in freight forwarding, shipping, import/export, or customs clearance.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of international shipping documentation, procedures, and customs compliance.
- Systems Proficiency: Experience using ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
- Core Skills: Excellent organizational abilities, sharp attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple shipments under pressure.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Import Export Clerk to join our high-performing logistics team. You will manage end-to-end global shipments—involving both containerized cargo and bulk vessels—ensuring strict compliance, cost-efficiency, and top-tier customer service.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate Logistics: Arrange freight movements and collections globally by liaising with overseas suppliers, carriers, shipping lines, and hauliers.
- Manage Documentation: Prepare and process Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
- Ensure Compliance: Oversee import/export procedures in line with UK, EU, and international shipping regulations.
- Drive Efficiency: Negotiate freight rates, prepare cost-effective logistics quotes, and proactively resolve any delays or cargo issues.
- Track & Communicate: Monitor shipment progress, provide regular updates to stakeholders, and maintain accurate records in our ERP systems.
Desirable Extras
- Strong knowledge of Incoterms and international trade compliance.
- Specific experience handling container and bulk vessel shipments.
- Professional qualifications (e.g., IATA, FIATA, or CILT).
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
