Gateshead College is looking for qualified and experienced Boxing Coach/Assessor to deliver our successful England Boxing, Level 3 Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme.
This is a specialist role supporting talented young boxers to develop their potential while continuing with their academic or vocational studies. The role combines high-performance boxing coaching, teaching and assessment, athlete development, pastoral support and programme administration.
The DiSE Programme is part of England Boxing’s talent pathway and is funded through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. It forms an important part of England Boxing's long-term athlete development pathway, supporting young athletes who have been identified as having the potential to achieve excellence in their sport.
Delivered over two years, the programme provides a dual-career pathway, enabling athletes to combine high-performance boxing with full-time education, including A Levels, BTEC qualifications, apprenticeships and other vocational programmes. The programme helps athletes develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to pursue sporting excellence alongside their education and future career aspirations.
As the DiSE Coach/Assessor, you will be responsible for the management, teaching and assessment of all DiSE practical and theory units. The educational assessment elements of the role are just as important as the coaching aspects, therefore applicants will need to be willing to achieve the Assessor Award and a Teaching qualification if they do not already hold it.
Applicants must hold a minimum Level 2 Boxing Coaching Qualification and have at least five years' experience coaching boxers at a high level.

- Ability to deliver high-quality practical coaching and support athlete development
- Ability to manage, deliver, teach and assess DiSE practical and theory units
- Willingness to obtain an Assessor Award Qualification if not already held
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to support young people balancing sport and education
Main Responsibilities

Lead the DiSE Boxing Programme at Gateshead College
- Deliver high-performance coaching and educational sessions
- Deliver and assess DiSE theory and practical units
- Assess learner performance and progress
- Support elite young boxers to balance their boxing development with wider education
- Recruit and retain learners on the programme, working towards the required cohort numbers
- Manage programme administration, learner records and assessment documentation

Salary:
£34,833 FTE
This post is aligned to the College’s Scale 5 pay scale (£26,870 - £28,460), with an approved supplement applied to reflect the specialist nature of the DiSE role and the programme requirements.
