Hire Controller – Tool & Construction Equipment Hire (Kent Depot)

The role involves managing customer enquiries, coordinating equipment hires and collections, and supporting the wider depot team to ensure an efficient and professional service at all times.

What will I be doing?
Based at our Kent depot, the Hire Controller will play a key role in supporting depot operations and ensuring the efficient coordination of hire activity.
Working closely with the depot team, drivers, and customers, you will manage incoming enquiries, process hires and off-hires, coordinate deliveries and collections, and help maintain high levels of customer service and operational efficiency.
This is a varied and hands-on role that would suit someone who is highly organised, proactive, and enjoys working as part of a team.
- Handling incoming customer enquiries and hire requests
- Preparing quotations and processing hire orders
- Coordinating equipment deliveries, collections, and exchanges
- Managing off-hires and ensuring accurate system updates
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships
- Supporting stock availability and fleet utilisation
- Liaising with drivers, fitters, suppliers, and the wider depot network
- Assisting with invoicing and general hire administration
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring attention to detail
- Supporting a safe, organised, and efficient depot operation
What do I need?
- Previous experience in a hire controller, hire desk, or customer service role (tool, plant or access industry, construction supply, or logistics preferred)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, confident liaising with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.
- A solid work history showing commitment, integrity, and progression.
- A proactive, customer-focused approach with the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- Strong IT skills and attention to detail when processing orders.
- A team player who enjoys working collaboratively with others.
- A positive attitude, problem-solving mindset, and a good sense of humour.
