Garden Kitchen is looking for a team player with hard working ethic to support our Kitchen Manager in the day to day running of the kitchen in our busy Botanic Garden Cafe.
The role has a fixed rota with alternate weekends off.
The usual shift is 08:30 - 16:30 with occasional evening shifts for events. The Cafe is closed between Christmas and New Year.
The Cafe Chef will lead the kitchen team when the Kitchen Manager isn’t on site.

Responsibilities
- Record keeping and Food Hygiene compliance, including Kitchen and store area cleanliness, maintenance reporting and stock rotation.
- Placing orders for stock & making sure appropriate stock levels
- Supporting and reporting to our Kitchen Manager & Director of Food
- Cleaning kitchen and stock areas in line with our cleaning schedule & in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Producing & serving food in line with our menus & recipes.
- Leading weekend service to keep up with busy services.
- Help facilitate different catering responsibilities alongside cafe service.
- Understanding the seasonality of the site and how to prep & order for this.
- Communicate to the Kitchen team any changes to standardised recipes and menus
- Manage daily kitchen operations, including stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining.
- Support team management by training new staff and mentoring junior chefs to develop their skills.
- Monitor food safety practices throughout the kitchen to comply with legal requirements and internal policies.
Who we need:
- Proven experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Strong supervisory experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
- Extensive knowledge of food production, preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation standards.
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices in a professional kitchen environment.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business needs.
Pay: From £28,000.00 per year
