About us
We're a wholesale distributor of un-exciting items that every business needs to keep functioning. We keep thousands - about 5,000 last time we checked - of offices, schools, restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues stocked up with cleaning supplies, hygiene products and catering packaging. We've yet to meet the person who comes to work revved up to order the toilet roll and soap for the office, but we've met plenty who got excited when they forgot to, or placed the order a day too late.
We're a to-do-list purchase, and our goal is to make it as easy, quick and painless as possible for our customers to cross us off that list and get on with running their business.
We do this from multiple warehouses holding thousands of SKUs, delivering 99% of orders on our own fleet, five days a week. Add the breadth of our range - you might want a mop, but do you know which of the 53 we sell is right for the job? - and things like customer delivery windows (schools aren't keen on a full van at 08:55, but the restaurant next door needs its order before 09:30), and what should be a simple task quickly compounds in complexity.
About the role
We rely heavily on technology to navigate that complexity. We run across multiple cloud-based systems with scalability at the front of our decision-making. We have automated workflows. We have AI integrations. What we also have is too many owners of those systems and workflows - and, if we're honest, too much still runs through the Managing Director. That's the bottleneck we're hiring you to remove.
The architecture is already in place. Your job is to own it, refine it and make it genuinely scalable: simplifying the workflows that have grown complicated, joining up the systems that don't yet talk to each other properly, and building the automation and AI integrations that lets us grow without simply adding cost. You'll be the single owner and point of accountability - the person who finally makes 'single source of truth' true.
You won't be doing it all alone. We work with external agencies and specialists, and part of your role is directing them - owning the outcome and the roadmap, and getting the best from the partners who help deliver it. Whether you build hands-on yourself or orchestrate others to, what matters is that it works, and that it's elegantly simple.
This is a brand-new role, reporting directly to the Managing Director. You'll have real authority over our systems, and you'll shape and optimise our workflows in step with the leadership team. It's about as close to a blank canvas as an established, profitable business can offer.
Our primary systems include the below (we’ve purposely left the names off, as we’re more interested in your general logistical and technical mindset, than an X-system specialist):
- Leading ERP & CRM
- Integrated WMS
- Route-planning
- Ecommerce platform
- Frontier AI
- OCR software
Who you are
First and foremost, you understand how a business works - you're not just a tech geek. We're a logistics business, processing and delivering hundreds of orders a day across multiple warehouses on our own fleet. The thought of making elegantly simple, scalable workflows that just work has to excite you as much as the technology that powers them. If not more.
You're a logical thinker. Inefficiencies infuriate you, over-complication makes you want to scream, and you find real beauty in simplification. You've probably got a system for organising your kitchen cupboards. You know what single source of truth means - or if you don't, you've just opened another tab and started teaching yourself.
You're curious, proactive, and need to understand how things work. If you'd rather wait to be handed tasks, this role isn't for you. And you're almost certainly using AI every day – you’re no stranger to agents.
We won't pretend it's glamorous every minute. This is a hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up role in a growing business, and just occasionally that might mean helping a colleague who can't reach that single source of truth because their printer's jammed. If that's beneath you, we're probably not the right fit. We hope we are. If you think you fit every criterion but still believe you’re right for this role, don’t rule yourself out – see how to apply below and tell us why.
What's in it for you
- Real ownership - you'll be the person for the systems and workflows the business runs on, reporting straight to the MD.
- A business going somewhere - profitable, growing, and aiming to double in the next five years. Your work is central to getting there.
- The autonomy to do it properly - we're hiring you to remove the bottleneck, not to become the next one.
- A role you can shape - right down to its title.
