Overview
Enspec is a fast-growing engineering business operating at the forefront of the renewable energy sector, specialising in grid connection equipment manufacturing, power quality solutions and consultancy.
Following a successful management buyout, the business has grown from £3m to over £12m turnover and continues to scale rapidly. As we grow, so does the finance function.
We're building a finance team that provides far more than accurate reporting. We want finance to be a trusted business partner that delivers meaningful insight, strengthens financial control, improves processes and helps the wider business make better decisions.
This role is a key part of that journey.
The Role
This isn't a traditional Management Accountant position.
We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving the way finance operates and working closely with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing and operations.
You'll become the number two within the finance function, taking ownership of the month-end process whilst helping build reporting, controls and systems that will support Enspec over the next stage of its growth.
You'll be supported by the Head of Finance but expected to operate with a high degree of independence, bringing ideas, challenging existing processes and helping shape the future of the finance function.
For the right person, this role offers a genuine opportunity to grow into a future Finance Manager or Finance Business Partner position as the business continues to expand.
What Success Looks Like
In your first 12–18 months you will:
- Take ownership of the month-end process, delivering accurate and timely management accounts.
- Develop meaningful reporting that helps the business understand performance rather than simply report numbers.
- Improve inventory reporting and strengthen financial controls around stock and manufacturing.
- Build stronger relationships with operational teams and become a trusted finance partner.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, automate reporting and improve efficiency.
- Help develop the wider finance function as Enspec continues to grow.

Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Consultancy and Operations to improve financial visibility.
- Support budgeting and forecasting through meaningful analysis.
- Provide financial insight into project performance, margins and operational trends.

- Assist with R&D tax claims and other compliance requirements.

Team & Development
- Support and coach junior members of the finance team.
- Work closely with the Head of Finance to improve financial understanding across the wider business.
- Contribute to building a finance function capable of supporting the next phase of Enspec's growth.
About You
We're less interested in finding someone who simply completes tasks.
We're looking for someone who naturally takes ownership.
Someone who enjoys understanding how a business works, questions unusual results, improves reporting, and looks for better ways of doing things.
