Company Description
Skingevity is a company acquiring and scaling medical aesthetics clinics across the UK. Our strategy is simple but powerful: consolidate a fragmented, high-growth industry by backing great clinicians and improving operations. We’re founded by a former BCG Principal with deep experience in strategy and medical aesthetics and a former Goldman Sachs Vice President with an extensive track record in M&A. We’ve recently raised capital and are actively executing live deals - we currently have several acquisitions in progress.
Role Description
The Group Financial Controller is a senior yet hands-on role responsible for scaling, maintaining and continuously improving the finance function from the ground up. You will own both the strategic and operational day-to-day elements by working closely with the Co-CEOs and clinic leadership teams to ensure financial accuracy, control and reporting across the Skingevity group of clinics.
Main Responsibilities
The Group Financial Controller will own both the strategic and operational elements, a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities of which is below:
- Own the group’s financial control (parent and individual clinics).
- Own consolidation and intercompany reporting across all group entities.
- Maintain and refine the chart of accounts, accounting policies, and reporting templates as the group scales.
- Maintain the bookkeeping in Xero.
- Deliver monthly management accounts and year-end statutory accounts.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns (incl. partial VAT).
- Oversee, with support from the HR function, the Group’s monthly payroll process.
- Support M&A and post-acquisition integration.
- Create budgets and financial models.
- Monitor cash flow and develop forecasting processes.
- Prepare Board and investor reporting packs.
As this is a hands-on Controller role, you will be doing the work personally, not just reviewing it. The essential requirements are:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with a controllership background (not solely audit/practice).
- Proven, hands-on ownership of group consolidation across multiple entities.
- Proven track record of owning the full accounting cycle including month-end, statutory accounts, VAT, and managing the audit relationship.
- Circa 2+ years’ post-qualification industry experience
- Comfortable being hands-on – happy to prepare accounts, reconcile, and improve processes personally.
- Confident using Xero, Excel, and management reporting tools.
The following would be desirable and advantageous to have experience in:
- Audit-trained at a Big 4 or leading mid-tier firm.
- VC-, PE-, or family-office-backed companies.
- Multi-site or multi-entity businesses.
- Start-up / fast-growing environments, including improving (not just building) finance processes as a business scales.
- Experience with partial VAT exemption (ideally in a healthcare, medical, or mixed-supply environment) is a plus.
- Comfortable presenting numbers directly to founders/leadership – confident being challenged and pushing back when needed.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented, and motivated by improving structure in a scaling business.
