Job Title: Yard Foreman - Timber & Builders Merchants
Hours: 39 hours per week | Mon–Thu 08:00–16:30, Fri 08:00–15:30 (30-min break)
Pay & Benefits: Overtime paid at Time & a Half
Key Requirements (Apply Only If You Meet These Criteria):
- Proven supervisory or Foreman experience within a Timber Yard or Builders Merchant.
- Strong knowledge of yard safety, vehicle loading standards, and inventory management.
- Demonstrated leadership capability (performance reviews, workflow allocation, team discipline).
- Sideloader / Forklift certificate or operating experience (highly advantageous).
Job Summary We are recruiting an experienced Timber Yard Foreman to lead daily operations, manage yard personnel, and maintain strict dispatch quality. You will drive operational safety, ensure 100% load accuracy, and lead continuous improvement across the site.
Core Responsibilities
- Yard Operations: Allocate daily workloads, oversee dispatch accuracy, and verify outbound quantities, packaging, and marking.
- Team Leadership: Conduct annual performance reviews, manage team discipline, and deliver daily operational goals set by senior management.
- HSE & Compliance: Enforce all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) rules, site policies, and safe material handling practices.
- Fleet & Material Handling: Supervise safe loading/unloading of transport vehicles using Sideloaders and heavy yard machinery.
Qualifications & Experience
- Direct experience in timber trade, building supplies, or heavy merchant operations.
- Hands-on expertise in side-loader operation, load distribution, and transport safety.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
