Multi-Skilled Café & Kitchen Team Member
Beacon Hill Kitchen & Deli – Leicestershire
£13.25–£13.75 per hour | 4–5 days per week | 2 positions available
Love food but don't want to spend every day stuck in a kitchen? Or love café life and fancy learning both sides of the business?
We're looking for two brilliant people to join our team at Beacon Hill Kitchen & Deli.
These are genuinely varied roles.
Some days you'll be preparing and cooking food in our kitchen. Other days you'll be out front making coffee, serving customers and helping run the café.
We're deliberately looking for people who enjoy both.
Beacon Hill can change quickly depending on the weather and how busy the Country Park is, so having a flexible team who work together and can move between different roles is really important to us.
What you'll be doing
You'll be trained to work confidently across the café, including:
Kitchen
- Preparing and cooking our café menu
- Working independently in the kitchen once trained
- Producing consistently good-looking, good-quality food
- Food preparation
- Food safety and allergen procedures
- Stock rotation
- Keeping a clean and organised kitchen
Café / Front of House
- Welcoming and serving customers
- Taking orders and using the till
- Making great coffee and other drinks
- Running food
- Clearing tables
- Restocking
- Keeping the café looking great
- Helping wherever the team needs you when we're busy
Who we're looking for
We're much more interested in finding the right people than somebody with a particular job title.
We'd love to meet people who:
- Enjoy working with food
- Genuinely like customers and hospitality
- Are happy being busy and active
- Have common sense and initiative
- Notice what needs doing
- Take pride in doing things properly
- Are reliable
- Work well as part of a team
- Are willing to learn
- Like variety rather than doing exactly the same job every day
Previous café, kitchen, catering or barista experience would be a real advantage, but the right attitude is extremely important to us and training can be provided.
You will eventually need to be confident enough to operate our kitchen independently, so some previous food or kitchen experience would be particularly useful.
The working pattern
We're looking for people who can work 4–5 days per week.
Weekend working is required as part of the role, although we aim to share weekend commitments fairly across the team.
There are no late nights – we're a daytime café.
What we offer
- £13.25–£13.75 per hour depending on experience and skills
- 4–5 days per week
- Daytime hours
- Full barista training where required
- Kitchen and food training
- Genuine variety between kitchen and FOH
- Opportunities to develop into senior, training, key-holder or supervisory roles
- Staff benefits and discounts
- A supportive independent business
- A pretty amazing workplace in the heart of Beacon Hill Country Park
Important
You must be able to drive and have your own transport due to our location and working hours.
If you're the sort of person who enjoys a busy café, likes talking to customers, loves food and doesn't want to be pigeonholed into doing one thing every day, we'd really like to meet you.
Please apply with your CV and tell us a little about yourself and your experience.
