We are looking for a compassionate, organised and confident Child Contact Centre Co-ordinator to join our friendly team in Barking. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring children can safely maintain relationships with their families in a secure, welcoming environment.
As the second-in-charge of the Centre, you will support the Director with the day-to-day running of the service and take responsibility for leading the Centre in their absence.
About the Role
Working within a child-focused environment, you will:
- Lead supervised and supported child contact sessions.
- Support and supervise staff and volunteers during shifts.
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, managed and recorded appropriately.
- Complete professional reports for Local Authorities, Cafcass, solicitors and the Family Court.
- Build positive relationships with children, families and professionals.
- Help maintain the highest standards in line with NACCC guidance.
- Ensure the Centre provides a safe, welcoming and professional environment for every family.
Your ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Management
- Deputise for the Director when required.
- Supervise and support staff and volunteers.
- Assist with staff rotas and daily operations.
- Carry out staff inductions and supervision meetings.
- Promote a positive, child-centred culture.
Safeguarding & Service Delivery
- Deliver high-quality supervised and supported contact sessions.
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead during your shift.
- Complete risk assessments and manage safeguarding concerns.
- Respond calmly and professionally to challenging situations.
- Ensure toys, equipment and facilities remain safe and suitable for children.
Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Produce clear, factual reports for professionals and court proceedings.
- Complete attendance records, incident reports and other documentation.
- Support the Centre in maintaining compliance with NACCC standards.
Professional Relationships
- Act as the main point of contact during your shift.
- Communicate effectively with Local Authorities, Cafcass, solicitors and families.
- Attend professional meetings where required.
- Handle concerns and complaints professionally.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
Essential
- Experience working with children and families.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Experience supervising or supporting staff or volunteers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience writing clear, factual reports.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A professional and compassionate approach.
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Desirable
- Experience working within a Child Contact Centre.
- Knowledge of Family Court proceedings or Cafcass.
- First Aid qualification.
- NACCC Co-ordinator training (or willingness to complete training).
Working Pattern
- Monday: 2:00pm – 6:15pm
- Tuesday: 2:00pm – 6:15pm
- Wednesday: 2:00pm – 6:15pm
- Thursday: Centre Closed
- Friday: 10:00am – 6:15pm
Occasional flexibility may be required to cover training or service needs. Time off in lieu will be provided where applicable.
