Female* Children’s Waking Night Worker roles, including weekends
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a female* Children’s Waking Night Worker(s) to work directly with a lovely 7-year-old girl with complex needs in her family home. The family are looking for female* support worker(s) who can offer thoughtful, child-centred care and support her comfort, wellbeing and day-to-day needs. The successful candidates will be kind, caring, interactive, reliable and supportive.
Our client has cerebral palsy, has a nasopharyngeal airway which requires suctioning, is JEJ fed and needs close monitoring for seizures and Dystonia. She also has vision impairment, is non-verbal and is a full-time wheelchair user. She is fully reliant on adults to meet her personal care and medical needs. She is a young girl who loves music, using her sensory equipment, accessing the outdoors, princesses and everything pink! She lives with her parents and siblings in their home which is a non-smoking/ vaping environment. Her parents work collaboratively with the care team, are on board with all care and are warm and welcoming.
We offer competitive rates of pay and are keen to find people to join the team for the long term as continuity of care and building trust is very important for this child and her family. This is a very rewarding role in which you will be making a positive impact in the child and the family’s life. You will play a key role in providing overnight support on a 1:1/ 2:1 basis, monitoring her wellbeing, providing personal care, supporting her comfort and safety, completing tasks for the client around the home and responding to her needs throughout the night.
Hours:
Waking Nights: 2-3 nights per week – 8pm – 7:45am
Rates of Pay:
Monday – Friday days and nights - £18 per hour
Weekends days and nights - £20 per hour
Bank holidays: 1.5 times the usual weekday hourly rate.
There may be opportunities for additional hours and overtime.
Person Specification
· Fun, enthusiastic and happy.
· Full Clean UK Driving License.
· Experience of working with children with complex needs, for example cerebral palsy, epilepsy, suctioning, PEG/JEJ feeding.
· Experience of working in a private family home would be beneficial but an appreciation of the sensitivity, respect and privacy of working within a home environment is essential.
· Must attend all relevant training sessions and meetings as required.
· Willingness to engage and have regular contact with the case manager.
· Open to accompanying the family on holiday both in the UK and abroad.
· Happy to fulfil some client-related household tasks.
· Ability to offer flexibility with working times and hours to help support with periods of sickness or annual leave within the team.
· Excellent communication skills including a high standard of written and spoken English and be proficient in record keeping.
· Comfortable with basic IT skills.
· Ability to keep calm in a stressful environment and responds well to instructions when given.
· You should enjoy working alongside others as part of a team yet also be able to self-direct tasks and activities with our client.
· An ability to follow care plans and risk assessments as well as routine plans.
· Help with all of the child’s care and observational requirements including personal care, continence care, dressing /undressing and medication administration.
· To fully support all aspects of the child’s ongoing rehabilitation as set out by our child’s treating therapists and professionals.
· To maintain a safe environment for the child; in the home and in all community-based activities where applicable.
· To report immediately to the employer, and the case manager any concerns regarding the child’s medical, physical or psychological health, and to record this appropriately.
· All matters relating to the child’s situation and family are to be treated as confidential and are not to be disclosed to a third party under any circumstance.
· To adhere to CQC compliance in relation to delivery of care and support.
· A No smoking/ vaping policy is strictly in place.
· To adhere to care plans and risk assessments.
