About the Company
We are a well-established, NICEIC-approved electrical contractor delivering high-quality electrical installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and compliance services across Ministry of Defence (MOD), commercial, industrial, and government sectors throughout the UK.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Electrician to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on prestigious MOD and secure government contracts while delivering high-quality electrical services in accordance with current industry standards.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out electrical installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, fault-finding, repairs, and certification across a variety of secure and commercial sites.
You will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with BS 7671, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, NICEIC standards, and client specifications, maintaining the highest levels of workmanship and professionalism.
Please Note: Due to the nature of our contracts, previous experience working on Ministry of Defence (MOD) establishments or other secure government facilities is essential.
Applicants must hold a valid Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance as a minimum, or already possess Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. Candidates must also be eligible to maintain the required level of security clearance throughout their employment.
Applicants who do not have previous MOD experience or cannot satisfy the required security clearance standards will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical installations in commercial, industrial, government, and MOD environments.
- Undertake inspection, testing, verification, and certification of electrical installations.
- Complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs), and Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates (MEIWCs).
- Perform fault-finding, diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, and remedial works.
- Install and maintain lighting, power, containment systems, distribution boards, emergency lighting, and three-phase electrical systems.
- Install and maintain fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and other building services where required.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Ensure all works comply with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations, Electricity at Work Regulations, and company quality procedures.
- Maintain accurate certification, job records, and reports using digital systems.
- Liaise professionally with clients, MOD representatives, site managers, contractors, and colleagues.
- Comply with all Health & Safety legislation, site-specific procedures, and MOD security protocols.
- Supervise and support apprentices or junior electricians where required.
- Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota when required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- AM2 Qualification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection & Testing.
- ECS Gold Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience as an electrician.
- Proven experience carrying out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and electrical certification.
- Previous experience working on Ministry of Defence (MOD) establishments or secure government sites.
- Valid Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, or current SC/DV clearance, or eligibility to obtain and maintain the required clearance.
- Excellent fault-finding, inspection, testing, and diagnostic skills.
- Strong working knowledge of BS 7671, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and current UK electrical standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- IPAF Licence.
- PASMA Certificate.
- First Aid at Work.
- Asbestos Awareness.
- SSSTS or SMSTS.
- Experience installing EV charging points.
- Solar PV and Battery Storage experience or qualifications.
- Experience installing and maintaining fire alarm systems, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarms.
- Experience working under Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) contracts.

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday.
- 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Overtime and weekend work available.
- Participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota may be required.
