We are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our growing team in Belper.
If you already have a couple of years’ experience within an accountancy practice and are looking for a role where you can develop technically, take on more responsibility and progress towards Semi Senior level, we would love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing
Your role will include:
· Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
· Preparing working papers and supporting schedules.
· Bookkeeping and preparation of VAT returns.
· Assisting with corporation tax computations and returns.
· Assisting with Self Assessment tax returns and personal tax computations.
· Reviewing client records and identifying missing information and queries.
· Communicating directly with clients to obtain information and resolve routine queries.
· Maintaining and reviewing accounting records using cloud accounting software.
· Working alongside more senior members of the team on complex assignments.
· Managing your own workload and meeting agreed deadlines.
As your experience develops, you will be encouraged to take greater ownership of assignments and client relationships.
What We’re Looking For
You will need:
· At least 2 years’ recent experience working within an accountancy practice.
· Experience preparing accounts for limited companies, sole traders and/or partnerships.
· Practical bookkeeping and VAT experience.
· A good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles.
· Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
· Confidence communicating with clients and colleagues.
· A willingness to learn and take on greater responsibility.
Experience using Xero and preparing corporation and personal tax computations would be beneficial.
You may already be studying towards AAT or have completed an AAT qualification. We are interested in both your qualifications and the practical experience and ability you have developed within practice.
Your Progression
This isn’t intended to be a role where you remain an Accounts Assistant indefinitely.
We want to help you develop towards Semi Senior level by giving you increasing responsibility for accounts preparation, taxation, client communication and managing assignments.
As your technical ability and confidence develop, so will the level of work and responsibility you are given.
There are also opportunities for continued professional study, including AAT and progression towards ACCA where appropriate.
