Job Summary
This is a hands-on role within a small retail team. The successful candidate will take the lead on deliveries, stock checks, claims, faulty stock, credits and seasonal stock, while also supporting the wider team with customer service and general shop-floor duties.

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Giftware Sales & Stock Control Advisor to
Key ResponsibilitiesStock & Deliveries
- Receive and book in deliveries accurately.
- Check deliveries and identify shortages, damages or discrepancies.
- Ensure deliveries are processed correctly and stock is put in the right place.
- Raise and manage delivery claims.
- Monitor outstanding claims and ensure credits are received.
- Manage faulty stock and related claims.
- Keep stock records accurate and up to date.
Stocktakes & Seasonal Stock
- Organise and complete regular stock checks.
- Take the lead on the annual stocktake and smaller stock checks throughout the year.
- Coordinate seasonal stock counts, particularly for Christmas.
- be part of the seasonal team who implement the Christmas shop
- Support and guide other colleagues during stock counts.
- Monitor seasonal stock and help ensure quantities remain accurate.
General Department Responsibilities
Although stock is the main focus of the role, this is still a customer-facing retail position.
The successful candidate will also:
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Work on the till when required.
- Work deliveries and stock on the shop floor.
- Maintain good standards of housekeeping and presentation.
- Complete shared department routines and daily tasks.
- Take responsibility for a small area of the department, maintaining its presentation, pricing, stock and customer service.
- Support colleagues and the wider department during busy periods.
Key Skills & Attributes
We are looking for someone who is:
- Organised – able to manage deliveries, claims and stock tasks effectively.
- Accurate – has excellent attention to detail and understands the importance of correct stock figures.
- Numerically confident – comfortable counting stock and checking quantities.
- Reliable – takes responsibility for completing tasks and following issues through.
- Proactive – able to identify problems and take action to resolve them.
- A good communicator – confident dealing with colleagues, suppliers and customers.
- Independent – able to work without constant supervision.
- Hands-on – happy to work with physical stock and deliveries.
- Customer-focused – understands that customer service remains everyone's responsibility.
- A team player – willing to support colleagues and contribute to the wider department.
- Calm under pressure – particularly during busy periods such as Christmas.
Experience
Previous experience in stock control, retail or administration would be beneficial, but is not essential.
Experience of any of the following would be an advantage:
- Receiving and processing deliveries
- Stocktakes or stock checks
- Managing stock discrepancies
- Supplier claims and credits
- Faulty stock or returns
- Retail stock systems
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is organised, accurate, takes ownership and is happy working as part of a busy retail team.
