This is a key role within the business, responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordination of our fleet. You'll work closely with our drivers, warehouse team and customers to ensure collections and deliveries run smoothly, while maintaining the high level of service we're known for.
We're looking for someone who is confident, organised and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage the day-to-day operation of our transport fleet.
- Book collections and deliveries for our existing customer base.
- Build relationships with new and existing customers, negotiating work and providing competitive haulage quotes.
- Work closely with our warehouse team to coordinate collections, deliveries and loading schedules.
- Effectively plan driver routes and allocate work across the fleet to maximise efficiency.
- Act as the main point of contact for our drivers, providing support and resolving any issues that arise throughout the day.
- Monitor deliveries to ensure they are completed on time and communicate any delays to customers.
- Source additional haulage work using online freight exchanges and transport platforms.
- Prepare, organise and distribute all driver paperwork, ensuring drivers have everything required for their daily routes and that transport operations run smoothly and efficiently.
- Liaise with the accounts team regarding completed jobs, customer invoicing and any transport-related queries.
What We're Looking For
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Confident communicating with customers, drivers and colleagues both over the phone and via email.
- Ability to negotiate rates and confidently quote transport jobs.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and support a team of drivers.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, email and transport management systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.
- A positive, motivated attitude with a willingness to get stuck in.
- A genuine passion for the transport and logistics industry.
