Job Overview
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Wages Clerk & Finance Assistant to join our finance team. This is a varied role that combines responsibility for the weekly payroll process with supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
The successful candidate will take ownership of processing weekly wages for employees across the business, ensuring payroll is completed accurately, on time and in line with current legislation. Alongside payroll duties, the role will provide valuable support to the finance department with purchase ledger, reconciliations and general accounts administration.
This position would suit someone with previous payroll and finance experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in producing accurate work.
Duties
- Process payroll accurately using accounting software and HRIS systems such as Bright HR
- Maintain precise records of wages, deductions, and employee data through data entry and HRIS platforms.
- Assist with financial analysis by compiling reports and reviewing payroll data for discrepancies.
- Support human resources activities by updating employee records and handling routine inquiries.
- Assist with purchase ledger processing.
- Match, code and post supplier invoices.
- Prepare supplier payment runs.
- Reconcile supplier statements.
- Assist with bank reconciliations.
- Support credit control activities where required.
- Assist with month-end finance tasks.
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
- Support the Finance Director and wider finance team with administrative duties.
- Carry out any other finance-related duties as required.
Skills
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms
- Experience with HRIS systems like Workday or PeopleSoft for employee data management
- Strong data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge of accounts payable processes and payroll procedures
- Excellent analysis skills to review financial data effectively
- Familiarity with human resources functions and related software tools
- Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Pay: £16.00-£20.00 per hour
