Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is a specialist-led, referral-only hospital located in the heart of the New Forest, offering advanced veterinary care across a wide range of disciplines. Our multidisciplinary team includes specialists in Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Diagnostic Imaging. We are seeking applications for an ECVS-approved Surgical Residency Programme, commencing in Spring/Summer 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to train alongside experienced ECVS Surgery Specialists, Residents, and a highly skilled nursing team within a hospital recognised for its surgical excellence. The successful candidate will play an active role in our small animal referral surgery service, including participation in the out-of-hours emergency rota, while developing advanced surgical expertise in a supportive, collaborative environment.

As a Veterinary Resident, you will undertake a recognised EBVS (or equivalent) approved specialist training programme under the supervision of a recognised Specialist.
You will be an integral member of the referral hospital team, delivering advanced veterinary care while developing specialist clinical, professional, and academic competencies. This role involves managing complex cases under supervision, participating in out-of-hours and weekend duties, and actively engaging in teaching, research, and clinical governance activities.

- Day Shifts between 08:00am to 18:30

You are a highly motivated veterinary surgeon who is committed to developing specialist expertise within a structured training environment. You’ll bring:
- A Veterinary degree and registration with the RCVS, eligible for, or accepted onto, an EBVS (or equivalent) recognised residency programme
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience and a completion of a rotating internship, surgical internship or both.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a demanding workload
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
- A reflective and self-directed approach to learning and professional development
- Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure clinical environment
