Job Overview
We are looking for a caring, reliable and professional Domiciliary Care Assistant to support adults in their own homes. The role involves helping service users with day-to-day living, promoting independence, dignity and wellbeing, and delivering person-centred care in line with individual care plans.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care support, including washing, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence care.
- Support service users with mobility, transfers and moving and handling in line with training and care plans.
- Assist with meal preparation, eating and drinking, and encourage good nutrition and hydration.
- Prompt, support or administer medication only where trained and authorised, following the medication care plan and company procedures.
- Carry out light domestic tasks such as laundry, cleaning, bed-making and general household support.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, helping to reduce isolation and promote confidence.
- Support service users to attend appointments, access the community, shop for essentials or collect prescriptions where required.
- Observe and report any changes in a service user’s health, wellbeing, behaviour or home environment to the appropriate senior member of staff.
- Maintain accurate, timely and factual care records after each visit.
- Respect confidentiality, privacy, dignity, choice and cultural needs at all times.
- Follow safeguarding, infection prevention, health and safety, lone working and data protection policies.
Experience
- A kind, compassionate and respectful approach to supporting people.
- Good communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Reliability, punctuality and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to follow care plans, policies and instructions accurately.
- Commitment to promoting independence, dignity and choice.
- Willingness to complete mandatory training, including safeguarding, moving and handling, medication awareness, infection prevention and basic life support.
- Right to work in the UK
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes, depending on service area requirements.
- Complete an enhanced DBS check.
