Bare Necessities is a thriving pre-loved and vintage clothing store in the heart of Manchester. Since opening in 2019, we’ve built a strong community around unique, affordable and more sustainable fashion.
As the business continues to grow, we're looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking Retail Assistant to join our in-store team.
The Role
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and has an interest in fashion.
You'll be working on the shop floor and helping with the day-to-day running of a busy store. The role involves much more than serving customers — you'll be helping to keep the store organised, well stocked and looking its best throughout the day.
We're looking for someone who is proactive and comfortable finding things to do without always needing direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service.
- Welcome customers and help them find products around the store.
- Offer styling and product advice where appropriate.
- Process transactions accurately using the till.
- Handle customer questions and enquiries.
- Replenish and organise stock throughout the day.
- Help receive, process, price and prepare new stock for the shop floor.
- Maintain visual merchandising and ensure displays are attractive and organised.
- Keep rails, changing rooms and the shop floor tidy.
- Assist with opening and closing the store.
- Help maintain general store cleanliness and presentation.
- Work closely with the store manager and wider team.
- Take initiative and help with other day-to-day tasks when required.

- Able to work efficiently in a busy retail environment.
- Flexible and willing to learn.
- Available to work a mixture of weekdays and weekends.
Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred, particularly within fashion or vintage retail, but we're also happy to consider someone with the right attitude who is keen to learn.
