Purpose of the Role
The Residential Support Worker will provide high-quality, therapeutic care to young people living in a Greenleaf home, helping them feel safe, valued, and supported to reach their full potential. The role involves building trusting relationships with young people while maintaining clear professional boundaries, contributing to individual care and behaviour plans, and working collaboratively with the wider team to deliver consistent, relationship-focused support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and encourage young people to reach their full potential.
- Create a warm, safe, and tidy home environment that promotes wellbeing.
- Build trust with young people while maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
- Empower young people to develop life skills such as cooking, travel, and self-care.
- Contribute to care planning, including risk assessments, positive behaviour plans, and individual goals.
- Keep accurate, reflective records and complete effective shift handovers.
- Administer medication safely and in line with policy.
- Manage petty cash responsibly and ensure all safety checks are completed.
- Drive company vehicles, where applicable, to transport young people to school, appointments, and activities.
- Work collaboratively with the team, attend meetings and training, and follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Report any safeguarding concerns promptly in line with the organisation's safeguarding policy.
Person Specification
Essential
- Naturally caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with young people.
- Good level of spoken and written English.
- Able to communicate confidently and professionally with outside agencies and professionals.
- Calm and grounded, even under pressure, with the ability to set clear, consistent boundaries.
- A supportive team player who leads with empathy and kindness.
- Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, sleep-ins, and waking nights as required.
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and participate in safer recruitment checks.
Desirable
- Previous experience in residential childcare, social care, youth work, or a related field.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards it).
- Understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to care.
Pay: £13.35-£13.90 per hour
