The Ruddings Hotel is a welcoming and busy country house hotel with 21 newly renovated bedrooms, a popular bar and restaurant, and a thriving lunch and dinner service. We pride ourselves on delivering genuine hospitality in a relaxed, friendly environment, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic Duty Manager to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.
The Role
As Duty Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the hotel, ensuring our guests receive outstanding service and that the hotel runs smoothly during your shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the front of house team during lunch and evening service.
- Being present in the bar and restaurant, ensuring service standards consistently exceed guest expectations.
- Handling restaurant reservations by telephone and email.
- Managing hotel bookings using our Property Management System (PMS), including room enquiries and booking policies.
- Assisting on reception with guest check-ins and check-outs.
- Creating and managing guest bills and processing payments.
- Cashing up at the end of the day and ensuring the hotel is securely locked.
Working Hours
- Permanent, full-time position.
- Regular days off: Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Typical shifts include:
- 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm
- 2:00 pm – 11:00 pm
- Occasional split shifts, typically 7:00 am – 12:00 am and 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm/or Finish, to cover business needs.

- Has previous hospitality or hotel management experience.
- Is confident leading and motivating a team.
- Delivers exceptional customer service with a positive, hands-on approach.
- Remains calm and organised in a busy environment.
- Has excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Is flexible and reliable.
