Funeral Home Manager – Multi-Branch Operations
Hours: Full-time, including an out-of-hours on-call rota 8am till 5pm
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Funeral Home Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of several funeral homes and lead a team of Funeral Directors and Funeral Service Operatives.
This is a hands-on management position requiring someone who can lead from the front, maintain exceptionally high standards, and ensure that every funeral service is carried out with professionalism, dignity and care.
The Role
As Funeral Home Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of multiple funeral homes, in Tameside, Stockport and Oldham including the management of staff, vehicles, facilities and funeral operations.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing and supporting a team of Funeral Directors and Funeral Service Operatives.
- Taking responsibility for the recruitment, selection and management of staff, including disciplinary procedures and dismissals where necessary.
- Planning daily funeral arrangements and allocating staff and vehicles appropriately.
- Managing a large fleet of funeral vehicles and ensuring they are clean, presented to an exceptionally high standard and properly maintained.
- Carrying out regular vehicle checks and ensuring vehicles are ready for every funeral.
- Planning efficient routes and ensuring staff and vehicles arrive at the correct locations on time.
- Being hands-on and expected to drive on approximately one funeral per day when required.
- Ensuring all funeral services are delivered to the highest professional and personal standards.
- Monitoring staff performance, appearance, conduct and standards of service.
- Managing the day-to-day running of the funeral homes and ensuring premises are maintained to a high standard.
- Dealing with operational issues quickly and professionally.
- Supporting Funeral Directors and Funeral Service Operatives when required.
- Managing an out-of-hours on-call rota, with responsibility for the on-call telephone every other week.
- Ensuring company procedures, policies and standards are consistently followed.
- Maintaining excellent relationships with families, colleagues, suppliers and other professionals.
- Identifying areas for improvement and helping to continuously develop the business and its staff.
About You
The successful candidate must have previous management experience, ideally within the funeral profession, transport, fleet management, hospitality, care, or another customer-focused operational environment.
You will need to be:
- An experienced and confident people manager.
- Organised and able to manage several priorities at once.
- Comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility.
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Professional, calm and respectful at all times.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to plan routes, staff and vehicles effectively.
- Confident managing staff performance, including recruitment and disciplinary matters.
- Hands-on and willing to get involved in the daily operation of the business.
- Able to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
- Flexible regarding working hours and out-of-hours responsibilities.
- In possession of a full UK driving licence.

Previous experience within the funeral industry would be highly advantageous, but we will consider strong candidates with proven management experience in other operational environments.
