We design, supply, install, repair, maintain and configure IT systems to around 60 schools and businesses in the Kent area with our support personnel offering a friendly, personal service to provide a familiar face for your local IT support in East Kent.
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and technically proficient 2nd Line Support Technician to join our IT support team. This role involves providing advanced technical assistance to our customers end-users, hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems across our customers organisation. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a comprehensive understanding of computer networking, operating systems, and support tools, and a customer-focused approach to problem-solving. Duties
- Provide advanced technical support for desktop and server environments, including troubleshooting issues related to Microsoft Windows Server, Windows 11 and other operating systems.
- Resolve complex hardware and software problems by analysing system logs, network configurations, and user reports.
- Manage Microsoft Intune & Active Directory accounts, including user creation, permissions management, and group policy implementation.
- Support network infrastructure components such as LAN, VPNs, DNS, TCP/IP protocols, firewalls, and switches. Experience with Watchguard Firewalls is advantagious.
- Use remote management tools such as Connectwise, Microsoft Intune to diagnose issues and deploy updates or patches efficiently.
- Assist with software troubleshooting across various applications including Microsoft Office suite and specialised educational software in use in educational enviornments.
- Collaborate with 1st Line support teams to escalate unresolved issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Document support activities accurately in ticketing systems for future reference and reporting.
- Contribute to maintaining security protocols by supporting firewall configurations and monitoring network traffic for anomalies.
- Participate in system upgrades, maintenance tasks, and technical projects to improve overall IT infrastructure performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in technical support roles specialising in computer networking, desktop support, or server administration.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems including Windows (client & server), Linux, and macOS.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP protocols, VPNs, watchguard firewalls, and LAN/WAN architectures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals or equivalent are advantageous.
- Ability to work independently under pressure whilst maintaining high levels of customer service standards.
