The Role
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on and proactive Lead Maintenance Technician/Engineer to oversee all maintenance activities at our Wigan site. You will play a key role in ensuring our manufacturing and filling equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently while leading continuous improvement across the maintenance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Carry out hands-on mechanical maintenance and fault finding (electrical experience is desirable).
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programmes.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, including PLC-controlled equipment where applicable.
- Lead and support the maintenance team, reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability whilst ensuring high standards of safety and performance.
- Work closely with production to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Manage contractors and maintenance projects.
- Maintain maintenance records and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Source equipment, spare parts and maintenance supplies as required.
- Support, coach and develop maintenance team members.
About You
You will have:
- Proven maintenance experience within a manufacturing, chemical or process environment.
- Strong mechanical skills with electrical knowledge (PLC experience advantageous).
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Experience leading or supervising a maintenance team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A safety-first approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Competent IT skills for maintaining maintenance records.
- A proactive, safety-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Relevant engineering qualifications or technical training.

Pay: £36,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
