About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Manager to oversee and manage our transport operations. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all UK transport legislation, optimise fleet performance, manage drivers, and maintain the highest standards of safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the transport department.
- Ensure compliance with DVSA, Operator Licence, Working Time Directive, and Drivers' Hours regulations.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure fleet roadworthiness.
- Lead, motivate, and manage drivers and transport staff.
- Plan and optimise routes to maximise efficiency and reduce costs.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and compliance breaches.
- Maintain accurate transport records and reports.
- Manage transport budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained across all transport activities.
RequirementsEssential
- Proven experience in a Transport Manager or similar transport operations role.
- Valid Transport Manager CPC Qualification.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and fleet compliance requirements.
- Experience managing drivers and transport teams.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transport management software.
Desirable
- Experience managing HGV fleets.
- Knowledge of fleet telematics systems.
- Experience working within logistics, distribution, or haulage sectors.
