About ARU:
ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established brand team at a pivotal moment for ARU. As the University launches its new 10-year strategy on 1 September, we are creating new capability to strengthen how we communicate our mission, values, ambitions and impact through clear, engaging and audience-centred content.
As our Copywriter, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering written content that brings the ARU brand to life. Reporting to the Senior Brand Manager, you will create high-quality copy across a wide range of channels and formats, including web content, leadership communications, staff and student communications, speeches, event materials, briefings and stakeholder communications. Your work will help ensure ARU speaks with a consistent, distinctive and authentic voice across the University.
Working closely with colleagues across External Relations, communications, marketing and the wider University, you will develop content from brief to final output, translating complex information into clear, compelling messages for different audiences. You'll apply ARU's Tone of Voice, use audience insight and personas to shape your work, and help colleagues communicate more effectively by providing practical guidance on content, messaging and accessibility.
As part of a newly formed creative team, you will have the opportunity to help establish new ways of working, contribute ideas that improve content quality and consistency, and play a key role in developing the written expression of ARU's brand. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys combining creativity with attention to detail and who wants to make a visible contribution to a new university strategy.
We are looking for an accomplished writer with experience creating content for a range of audiences and channels. You will have excellent writing and editing skills, a strong understanding of how language shapes audience perceptions, and the ability to adapt your style to suit different purposes and platforms. You will also be highly organised, collaborative and confident working with stakeholders to turn ideas and complex information into engaging content.
This is an opportunity to help define how one of ARU's most important assets, our voice, is expressed across the institution. If you are passionate about storytelling, audience-centred communications and creating content that informs, engages and inspires, we would love to hear from you.
Informal enquiries can be made to Andrea Hilliard, Deputy Director of External Relations and Communications, at [email protected].
