Essential Requirements
- Full driving licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle – essential.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in a care/support role, either paid or voluntary.
- Experience supporting adults with disabilities, learning difficulties and/or autism.
- A genuine passion for providing person-centred care and support.
- Strong work ethic, reliability and the ability to use your own initiative.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
- Ability to understand and follow care plans, policies and procedures.
- Willingness to provide personal care, including washing, dressing, eating and toileting.
- Willingness to support with medication, including PEG medication where required.
- Willingness to support individuals with safe moving and transferring, including use of equipment such as hoists.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and occasional night-awake shifts when required.
- NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care is desirable. If you do not currently hold this qualification, you will be expected to work towards it during your first year.
The Opportunity
Jenny's provides day opportunities and short-term breaks for adults with learning difficulties and/or autism across our two centres in the heart of Clacton-on-Sea.

Due to an increase in the number of people we support, we are looking for additional full-time Support Workers to join the friendly and inclusive team at Jenny's House.

Hours & Flexibility
This is a full-time position with a minimum commitment of 36 hours per week.
Shifts will be agreed 4 weeks in advance and will include a combination of weekdays and weekends.
The role also includes awake night support. You will be part of a small team that may be required to cover night-awake shifts when necessary, for example during holidays or staff annual leave.
Overtime is available.
Key Responsibilities
As a Support Worker, you will provide practical, emotional and person-centred support to help individuals live fulfilling and independent lives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community.
- Encouraging and supporting individuals to take part in activities and develop their interests.
- Supporting individuals with their daily routines and personal goals.
- Providing personal care, including washing, dressing, eating and toileting.
- Supporting individuals with safe movement and transfers, including using equipment such as hoists.
- Supporting and overseeing medication administration, including medication via PEG where required.
- Following individual care plans and risk assessments.
- Promoting independence, choice, dignity and respect at all times.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues, individuals and other professionals.
- Maintaining accurate records and following organisational policies and procedures.
- Working as part of a close-knit team to ensure the safety, wellbeing and quality of life of the people we support.
About You
You will be a reliable and motivated Support Worker who genuinely enjoys working with people and wants to make a positive difference to their lives.
You will have experience supporting people with disabilities and understand the importance of person-centred care, dignity, choice and independence.
You should be confident working both as part of a team and independently, with the initiative to respond appropriately to the needs of the people you support.
Experience supporting with medication would be advantageous, but full training will be provided.

Pay Rates
- Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm: £13.19 per hour + driving allowance of up to £32 per month
- Monday–Friday unsociable hours (before 8:00am and after 4:30pm): £14.18 per hour
- Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holidays: £14.96 per hour
- Awake Night: £20.24 per hour
