Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Logistics/Stores Assistant to support the Team Leader to oversee daily operations within our warehouse environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing team activities, ensuring safety standards, and maintaining efficient workflow processes. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of warehouse operations, and the ability to handle materials safely and effectively. The Logistics/Stores Assistant will play a vital part in supporting our organisational goals by coordinating shipping, receiving, and inventory management activities. You must have a full UK or International driving licence as the fork lifts use public roads to move around the sites.
Duties
- Assist daily warehouse operations, including shipping & receiving, loading & unloading materials, and inventory control.
- Lead and motivate team members to achieve operational targets while maintaining high safety standards.
- Operate and oversee forklift activities, ensuring proper handling of materials and equipment.
- Utilise warehouse management systems to track stock levels, process orders, and update records accurately.
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate smooth movement of goods and materials across the site.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage stock levels and organise storage areas efficiently to optimise space utilisation.
Experience
- Proven experience in warehouse management or supervisory roles within a logistics or construction environment.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and materials handling equipment such as forklifts.
- Mechanical knowledge related to warehouse machinery and equipment maintenance is desirable.
- Experience in heavy lifting, load handling, and safe operation of shipping & receiving procedures.
- Previous exposure to construction or industrial settings is advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
