Beyond Reflections is a charity supporting the mental wellbeing of trans and gender-questioning adults, as well as their families, partners and friends.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Groups Lead to take responsibility for the development, coordination and quality of our peer support and social group provision.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and grow an important part of our service. You will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and Member Support Lead to develop new groups, support and train volunteer facilitators, ensure consistent quality across our groups, and help shape the future direction of our peer support offer.
The role combines service development, facilitation expertise, volunteer support and quality improvement. You will help ensure our groups remain welcoming, effective and sustainable spaces where people can connect, share experiences and build community.
The salary range is between £12.71-£15.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Develop and support the growth of Beyond Reflections’ online and in-person peer support groups.
- Identify opportunities for new groups and help bring them from concept to delivery.
- Visit potential venues and build relationships with local community partners.
- Support, train and develop volunteer group facilitators.
- Coordinate volunteer facilitator allocations across groups.
- Observe groups and provide feedback to support quality and consistency.
- Support volunteers to manage group dynamics, maintain boundaries and respond appropriately to different situations.
- Ensure groups operate safely and in line with Beyond Reflections’ values, policies and safeguarding framework.
- Monitor group activity, gather feedback and contribute to ongoing service improvement.
- Maintain group-related administration and reporting.
About You
You will have experience facilitating emotionally sensitive peer support, wellbeing or community groups and be confident creating safe and inclusive spaces for people with a range of experiences and needs.
You will have:
- Experience facilitating groups involving adults with diverse needs.
- Experience supporting people who may experience poor mental health, neurodivergence, social isolation or other challenges.
- Experience training, mentoring or supporting others.
- The ability to manage group dynamics and emotionally sensitive conversations while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- An understanding of safeguarding principles and when concerns should be escalated.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently.
Knowledge and understanding of the experiences of trans and gender-questioning people would be highly valued.
Working Arrangements
This is a 16-hour per week hybrid role, based in Southampton. It is important to note that this is not a predominantly home-based role. As this is a new position, there will be a significant amount of relationship building, service development and practical setup involved initially. This will include time working from our Southampton office, visiting venues, developing new groups, supporting volunteers and building connections within local communities.
Working hours will be discussed at interview, however availability on Mondays from 10am–2pm is necessary.
There will also be a requirement for flexibility in how the 16 hours are worked. As all of our support groups take place in the evenings, the successful candidate will need to include some evening hours within their working pattern to support group observations, facilitation and volunteer development. The specific working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate.
