Purpose
The Chair provides leadership to the Governing Board, ensuring effective governance, strategic oversight, and accountability. The Chair works closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Board members to support the long-term success and sustainability of UK School of English while maintaining a clear distinction between governance and operational management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and chair Governing Board meetings.
- Promote effective governance and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure the Board fulfils its legal, regulatory, and governance responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer and senior leadership.
- Support the institution's strategic development and long-term sustainability.
- Encourage active participation and constructive challenge from Board members.
- Oversee Board effectiveness, risk management, financial sustainability, academic quality, and student experience.
- Act as an ambassador for UK School of English where appropriate.
- Exercise a casting vote where permitted under governance procedures.
Time Commitment
- Attend quarterly Board meetings.
- Review Board papers in advance.
- Participate in occasional meetings with the Chief Executive Officer as required.

Appointment: Honorary / Non-Executive
Board Meetings: Quarterly
Expenses: Approved travel and official Board expenses reimbursed.
