Senior Marine Estimator Antrim/Worldwide

Mivan works both on land based and marine projects. We are currentlyrecruiting an experienced Senior Marine Estimator to join our Estimating teamto ensure highly competitive, carefully resourced, analysed tender costs andprepare quality submissions to clients.
Candidates should have a proven trackrecord in an estimating role with full responsibility for the bidding processfrom enquiry stage to final submission with extensive knowledge of generalbuilding works including new build, refurbishment and fit-out. It would also beadvantageous if the person has experience on tendering marine work. While alsohaving knowledge of what influences/impacts on estimating, estimatingstrategies, building methodologies and techniques, and the use of appropriatecontracts and the effect they have on the tender requirements. Marine projectshave the same principals as land projects, and the transition from land tomarine is fairly straight forward.
Main duties will include:
- To act as the lead estimator during thetender preparation and coordinate the compilation of the tender submission.
- Preparation of enquiry documents usingthe most appropriate methods
- Sourcing and assessing supplier andsubcontract quotations and, wherever possible, at the most advantageous termsto the Company and in compliance with any specific contract requirements.
- Preparation of accurate Bills ofQuantities from drawings, specifications and schedule of finishes
- Liaising with other staff for supporton the bid (Design, Operations, Factory, QS, Senior Management).
- Establish and actively promote workingrelationships between all departments, through effective communication andensuring Company procedures are followed.
- Calculation of site management andpreliminary costs
- Arrange and when necessary, chairtender adjudication meetings including preparing the relevant documentation andensuring that any actions are completed and incorporated within the finalsubmission
- Identify risks, ambiguities andopportunities within the tender documents and take account of same in preparingthe tender.
- Evaluating the tender programmerequirements to enable efficient cost-effective resource levels to win bids.
- Provide support and development toother members of the Estimating team.
- Participate in final negotiations
- Front line Client liaison
- Arrange and attend handover meetings onsuccessful tenders
- Post tender and post contractdiscussions and cost considerations including evaluation of the contract
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Aproven track record in an estimating role with full responsibility for thebidding process from enquiry stage to final submission
- Extensiveknowledge of general construction works where possible, experience in tenderingmarine projects would be beneficial, and would including new build,refurbishment and fit-out
- Extensiveknowledge of what influences/impacts on estimating, estimating strategies,construction methodologies and techniques, and the use of appropriate contractsand the effect they have on the tender requirements
- Excellentcommunication skills
- Excellentcommercial acumen
- GoodIT skills and a working knowledge of integrated computerised estimating andvaluation systems.
- Workwell under pressure and work flexibly to meet deadlines
- Abilityto balance workload, prioritise and organise work
- Ableto work at high concentration levels, under pressure and maintain qualitystandards
The Job Holder will be required totravel in order to assess market conditions and any other factors that mayaffect the tender submission. This may involve short periods away from HeadOffice. Travel will also be required tomeet clients during any stage of the tender process. Depending on the clientslocation, travel maybe international.
