Vonkebles is a small, family-run dog training business looking to expand our team. We specialise in training dogs for police, security, and pet homes, and we are seeking a hardworking and passionate Kennel Assistant to help care for our working dogs.
The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for dogs, confidence handling a variety of breeds and temperaments, and a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare. This is a hands-on role within a busy kennel environment, working closely with both young and adult dogs.
Full Job Description
Responsibilities include:
- Providing daily care for dogs, including feeding, exercising, and cleaning.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of kennels and communal areas.
- Assisting with the administration of medication as directed by management.
- Supporting the team with manual handling tasks, including lifting bags of food and bedding materials.
- Participating in training sessions and following all health and safety procedures.
This position is based on a rota offering up to 40 hours per week, with alternate weekends included. Full training will be provided to all successful candidates.
An immediate start is available for the right applicant.
There is also an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to progress into a Trainee Dog Trainer role, working with young puppies and developing dogs.
Experience & Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- An Animal Management qualification (preferred but not essential).
- Experience and confidence working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments, including affectionate, anxious, and reactive dogs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- The physical ability to carry out manual handling duties and work in an active environment.
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and providing high-quality care.
Please note: Candidates must have their own transport due to our rural location.
