TITLE: PEGS Preschool Assistant (Maternity Cover) - Provisional start date- 26th August 26 (Dependent on SS checks), Term Time Option Available.
Essential Criteria:
Level 3 in Childrens Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent)
Desirable Criteria:
A Degree in Early Years Education
Experience of working in a PEGS preschool setting
Experience of ETI inspection
Experience of Early Years Inspection
25 Years +, in age- to be able to drive the nursery vehicles for trips.

Food Safety Training

HOURS: (MATERNITY COVER)
September 26 until June 27,
Thur & Fri morning,
12 hours
A mixture of shifts- 7.30-130pm, 8-2pm & 8.30-2.30pm which will change each week.
PURPOSE OF THE POST:
This post is to ensure the continued maintenance of a high quality pre-school setting. As a Preschool Assistant you will be responsible for the general care and well-being of the children, working within a staff team and alongside parents, to help create an environment of learning, which is welcoming, fun, secure and friendly for all the children in attendance.
This will include:-
- Maintaining a high standard of the 6 areas of development for children placed in the room:- Physical, Personal, Social & Emotional, The Arts, Language, Mathematical and the World Around Us.
- Good communications and liaison with the room leader, staff team, manager and owners
- Fostering good professional relationships with the parents
- Liaison with Social Services, Environmental Health, Health Visitor, local schools and any other professional bodies as required.
Principal duties:
1. To be responsible for the supervision and care of all the preschool children attending. To plan and operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range and development of the preschool children in your care alongside the Preschool Room Leader.
2. To maintain a secure, safe and happy environment for the preschool children.
3. To understand, value and encourage stages of child development. To ensure that all children are treated and respected as individuals, and their individual needs are catered for.
4. To be responsible for ensuring that the parents are kept fully informed of their child’s overall development at preschool, this will be done verbally daily if needed and also formally through termly meetings.
5. The Preschool Assistants working alongside the Preschool Room Leader is responsible for ensuring the continued implementation of the development plan.
6. The Preschool Assistants alongside the Preschool Room Leader are responsible for ensuring the implementation of long term plans (each term), medium term plans (weekly) and short term plans (daily) for the curriculum.
7. The Preschool Staff Team is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the Child Protection Policy within the room and at each room meeting.
8. To promote equal opportunities throughout the preschool session.
9. To work along side parents/main carers of all preschool children including special needs children to achieve full integration within the preschool routine.
10. To promote a happy atmosphere for the preschool children and to give support to parents and other family members.
11. The Preschool staff team, will carry out observations and make an assessment of each individual child’s needs within each key worker group and plan Daily, Weekly and termly, to meet each child’s needs.
12. To maintain confidentiality in respect to the Preschool children's records and with regard to any discussion with preschool staff relating to preschool issues.
13. To be responsible for the promotion and maintenance of a good public image of the preschool.
14. To ensure that Social Service Guidelines and ETI standards are adhered to, that all the Preschool Policies are carried out and that all relevant paperwork is kept up to date.
15. To ensure Health and Safety within the setting is paramount.
16. To make safe any monies passed on by any parents or carers, informing the manager as soon as possible so any relevant paper work can be carried out.
17. To give guidance and support to students and non-qualified members of staff, to ensure that standards are maintained from the beginning of their training/induction.
18. To attend any staff meetings outside working hours.
19. It is essential that the Preschool Staff Team attends relevant and ongoing training courses and feeds any training back into the preschool room routine.
20. To ensure the preschool room is fully set up before the session commences and is tided and cleaned after the session ends. Care should be taken to ensure that all toys are kept clean and in working order.
21. To ensure a high standard of cleanliness, tidiness and hygiene is being maintained within the Preschool Room.
22. To ensure all routines are accurately followed ensuring spontaneity is encouraged where appropriate.
23. To assist with any first aid when required.
24. To work along side the Preschool Leader, Manager and owners to ensure that the philosophy behind the preschool is fulfilled.
25. To undertake any other duties as may be requested from time to time by the managers or owners.
