1:1 TEACHING ASSISTANTS
Dates: To commence September/October 2026
Location: Church Road North, Wavertree, Liverpool L15 6TQ
Contract type: 37 hours per week, term time only.
Contract term: Fixed Term
CHILD A: This role is part of a 3x 1:1 TA team, working under the direction of the class teacher. Your specific role will be the educational support for the young person, whilst their medical needs will be supported by 2x personal assistants. You will support a KS4 complex medical, wheelchair user, who is non-verbal, in their academic learning, in accessing the multi-sensory curriculum, as well as in developing their personal, social and communication skills. Weekly swimming session support is expected. You will be provided with suitable training to support the individual and their targets/outcomes, this will be identified during the interview process. These might include hoisting, SALT and OT strategies.
CHILD B: We are recruiting a 1:1 teaching assistant to work to support a KS2 ambulant pupil in their academic learning on the pre-formal pathway. This will include accessing the multi-sensory curriculum, as well as in developing their personal, social, communicative and independent living skills. You will be expected to carry out physical tasks such as supporting with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting and mobility. Supporting in weekly swimming sessions is expected. You will be expected to follow a range of plans provided by the multidisciplinary team throughout the day. You will be provided with suitable training to support the individual with their personalised timetable and their targets/outcomes, this will be identified during the interview process. Training will include SALT, sensory strategies and emotional regulation.
CHILD C: Working under the direction of the class teacher you will support a KS2 wheelchair user, who is a non-verbal pupil, in their academic learning on the informal pathway. This will include accessing the multi-sensory curriculum, as well as developing their personal, social and communication skills. You will be expected to carry out physical tasks such as changing and supporting their medical and personal care needs. Weekly swimming session support is expected. You will be provided with suitable training to support the individual and their targets/outcomes, this will be identified during the interview process. These might include hoisting, SALT and OT strategies.
You should be qualified to at least NVQ level 3 in a relevant field. Ideally, you will have had experience of working with children with VI, sensory processing, complex and medical needs.
