Role Overview
Are you a visionary technical leader ready to define the future of enterprise software systems? We are seeking a Chief Software Architect to lead our high-level architectural strategy, modernise core systems, and guide our engineering teams.
In this role, you will bridge executive business strategy with deep technical execution, ensuring our platforms remain secure, scalable, and resilient.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the end-to-end software architecture strategy across cloud and microservices environments.
- Lead system design, technical governance, and high-level architectural blueprints for high-throughput platforms.
- Evaluate emerging tech stacks, frameworks, and cloud services (AWS/Azure) to maintain platform competitiveness.
- Mentor senior engineers, principal developers, and team leads on design patterns, clean code, and best practices.
- Partner with Product Managers and CTO to balance feature delivery with long-term technical debt reduction.
- Oversee system security, compliance standards (GDPR, ISO 27001), and high-availability operational SLAs.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience as a Chief Architect, Principal Systems Architect, or Lead Solutions Architect.
- Deep mastery of public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
- Strong background with modern programming languages (e.g., C#/.NET, Java, Python, TypeScript, or Go).
- Expertise with containerisation, CI/CD automation pipelines, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Kubernetes).
- Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

- Monday to Friday
- Hybrid working model (2-3 days per week in our Newcastle upon Tyne office)
